May I visit the property without an appointment?
An appointment to tour The English Country Barn is required. Please call/text (913) 626-6202 or visit https://calendly.com/englishcountrybarn/barn-tour to schedule.
What is required to book an event?
We require a signed copy of our Rental Agreement and $1000 non-refundable deposit. The balance is payable over 3 equal payments.
What is included in the fee?
The venue fee includes the rental space from 9.30AM until 11.59PM on the day of your event. Plus 1 hour for a rehearsal the week prior to your event (subject to availability); Reception tables and chairs for up to 200 guests. Outdoor ceremony chairs for up to 200 guests. We offer a 2 1/2 day rental with access to the venue at 9am day one through 11am day 3. For pricing and a full list of what’s included click here.
What are your table sizes?
We have tables in the following sizes:
3 x 16ft banquet tables
20 x 60″ round tables
7 x 6ft rectangular tables
1 x 48″ round table
16 x bistro tables
6 outdoor glass cocktail tables
And also provide:
186 chiavari chairs
32 bistro chairs
200 x outdoor chairs
Can my ceremony and reception both be held here?
Yes, we have indoor and outdoor spaces available to hold your ceremony and reception. Rain or shine we have accommodations available.
How many guests can I have?
The English Country Barn can accommodate up to 200 guests indoors. If your wedding is larger than 200 then contact us and arrangements can be put in place to accommodate you.
Do you allow alcohol to be served?
Yes. However, to comply with State Laws liquor must be served by a licensed and insured vendor. You are welcome to include alcohol in your celebration.
Do you have dressing rooms for the wedding party?
Yes. We have two separate dressing rooms fully equipped with mirrors, vanity’s, comfortable seating, private restroom, coffee stations and TVs.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
We’ve got you covered! The Barn has a dedicated ceremony room so even if you have planned to hold your ceremony in one of our beautiful outdoor spaces you can rest assured the Lancaster Ceremony room is available or our beautiful covered outdoor Wessex Chapel. If the weather deems it impossible for you to hold your event e.g. hurricane or ice storm, we will work with you to reschedule your event to a later date (See our Agreement for more details). We also have a beautiful outdoor covered chapel accommodating 200 guests
Are pets allowed?
We love animals, we rescue animals and support a rescue center. We welcome you to bring your horse if you want it to be part of your big day. Well behaved dogs can be included in your photos in our outdoor areas, provided they are kept on leashes and you ensure they kept at a safe distance from the horses. Other than service dogs we do not allow dogs to be in the barn.
Are there decorations that are not permitted?
Being in the country we believe in conservation and therefore Confetti, rice, glitter, latex balloons and metal drink containers indoors are NOT permitted. Open flame candles and fireworks are banned. No additional hooks or nails may be applied to our walls. Items such as Bubbles machine are allowed.
Do I need to use your preferred vendors?
Our list of preferred vendors is available to you in the knowledge that these vendors are pre-approved and provide a standard of service consistent with our own standards. You are welcome to use your own choice of vendor, but they must be pre-approved by us.
Do I need a wedding planner?
Whilst you do not need a full service planner, all events are required to hire a professional event/wedding coordinator.
Do you have parking?
Yes, our adjacent lighted parking lot can easily accommodate your guests’ vehicles. We also have a reserved parking area for vendors.
Who is responsible for cleaning after my event?
We take care of the cleaning after each event. Your wedding party is responsible for their personal belongings and vendors are required to leave their areas as they found them. Any additional rentals are your or the appropriate vendors responsibility.
Is the event space wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the entire ground floor is wheelchair accessible. We have a drop off area close to the building. Our upstairs balcony and dressing rooms are not wheelchair accessible.
Can we leave cars overnight?
We get it! Occasionally it is safer not to allow a guest to drive home. Cars can be safely left in our parking lot provided they are picked up no later than 9.30AM the following day. Please note we do not permit campers or RVs to be parked at our venue.
Is there lighting outside?
Yes, there is lighting for the two outdoor porches of the barn and flood lighting covering all the surrounding area. The parking area also has lighting for ease of access. There is also a multi-colored light fountain in the Pond.
Do you have overnight accommodation?
Yes, we have two fully renovated 3 bedroom, 2 bath farmhouse cottage (sleeps 6) within walking distance to the barn available for rental and a stunning custom one bed Sweetheart Cottage, a perfectly appointed couples retreat.
What are the aisle dimension in the chapel?
56ft long x 8 ft wide
Can I light a fire in the fireplace?
Yes you are welcome to utilize the fireplace provided you have a responsible adult monitor the fire at all times. You are responsible for providing your own wood.
What is the length of the staircase?
18 feet.
